February 9^th-15^th was Children of Addiction (COA) Awareness week. The Bear2Bear club organized a school-wide joke contest in honor of COA Awareness week. Humor is a way to relieve stress, lift spirits, and feel connected with others, which may be difficult for children who have a parent who is dependent on alcohol or drugs.

The jokes were narrowed down and then were anonymously voted on by the teachers.

Here are the winners:

6^th grade: What’s the difference between a teacher and a train? A teacher says, “Spit out your gum!” and a train says, “Chew chew!”

7^th grade: I once had a job smashing cans. It was soda pressing.

8^th grade: What do you call a teacher who never farts in public? A private tutor!

Fact Of The Week: 1 in 4 children under the age of 18 are affected by a parent with a substance use disorder. (nacoa.org)

Trivia Question Of The Week: This famous actor had struggled with addiction for 20+ years and was first introduced to marijuana at the age of 6 by his dad, who also battled a substance use disorder. He is now in recovery and is most famous for playing Iron Man. Who is this actor?
