Hello Briarcliff Middle School Families!
September is Recovery Month. Recovery Month is intended to promote and celebrate the recovery process from addiction of alcohol and other drugs. To bring awareness to this month, students learned about what recovery means, and that it’s possible through support and practicing healthy coping skills. 7th and 8th grade students participated in activities that enhanced their knowledge about celebrities who are in recovery, words associated with recovery (growth, hope, patience), and ways to help someone who may be struggling. A bulletin board was decorated with the theme of “Faces in Recovery” for the BMS community to learn about celebrities in recovery and inspiring quotes.
Fact Of The Week: Recovery is a lifelong and ongoing process.
Trivia Question Of The Week: This well-known rapper often puts his experience with addiction (his use and his mother’s use) in his rap songs. He’s been in recovery for over 10 years. Who is this celebrity in recovery?
Last Week’s Trivia Answer: Youth2Youth Club
